Hello Parents & Campers!

I want to welcome you to our 2024, Play Golf Lex, Golf & Recreation Summer Camps! We are very excited to share these upcoming weeks with you and your campers! We feel that this is such a great and unique camp experience that encompasses so many benefits we offer through Play Golf Lex. This year’s camps will be held at Tate’s Creek Golf Course. This is a fantastic course to host our camps for many reasons, but especially due to the attached pool that we use during the daily recreation portion of our camps. Our camps run Monday-Friday from 9:00-4:00. Drop off begins at 8:30, and we ask that you pick your child up no later than 4:15.

The first half of each camp day is dedicated to golf specifically. We use this time to not only teach our campers basic fundamentals of the game, but we also introduce etiquette and rules of the game. All instruction and play will be in group form, using many different games and group combinations. One day the players will play with their full set, while another day and activity has each person in their group assigned only one club for that particular game. We create groups to be as even as possible based on age and skill level. A typical group will be comprised of a more skilled player, several players with some to little golf experience, as well as players who are just beginning. Our typical day will begin on the practice facility, and will then move to the golf course to put what we have learned into practice.

We do take frequent breaks to stay hydrated. Although the pro shop does sell bottled drinks, we ask that you please bring a water bottle with their names on the bottle, for them to fill up throughout the day. This becomes even more important as we get into the hotter days during our summer camps. These breaks are also a good time if your child needs a snack to hold them over until lunch. The pro shop does sell snacks, but they will primarily be chips, candy bars etc. We do ask that the snack your child has, is able to be eaten in a short amount of time so we can get everyone back to the activity we were breaking from.

Lunch will be eaten indoors, and runs (on average) from 11:30-12:30. Tate’s Creek is a snack bar only facility. They do not have hot food or sandwiches for sale. They do have a microwave should your child need to heat something up, and their lunches will be stored in a refrigerator. We ask that you please send their lunch in an easily identifiable bag for them, with their name on it if needed. Lunch break will also be “quiet time” to help them cool down before the second part of their day. No games or activities will be played during this time. This hour is very important, especially to our younger campers. Although the golf swing may look easy, these campers are using muscle groups they have never really used before. That, coupled with walking the golf course for several hours, can be challenging to a lot of campers, which is why this hour is very important for not only each day, but for the week as well.

The second half of each camp day is recreation specific. As mentioned above, one of the great reasons to hold camp at Tate’s Creek is because of the pool that is attached to the facility. A good portion of their recreation time will be spent at the pool. In addition to the pool time, we will also have many other games and activities to play throughout the week as well. Please know, that because of the staff to camper ratio, all activities will be done as a group, unless otherwise noted. Meaning, all campers are expected to participate in each activity. We will not have the staff to separate multiple people into multiple activities. This is definitely something to consider for your younger campers, who may find the 7 hour days to be a little too much for them over the course of the camp week.

We are looking forward to hosting your campers during these upcoming weeks! We know they will learn so much about this great game of golf, enjoy all the games & activities we will have planned for them, as well as all the new friends they will meet! If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me!
